Buyside and Sellside Transactions Reinforce Leadership as Key Advisor to the UC Ecosystem

BOSTON, August 20, 2014 – Bowen Advisors is pleased to announce that BroadSoft has acquired Systems Design & Development, Inc. (SDD), a provider of software and services to the largest and most prominent global hotels, resorts, convention facilities, and fractional ownership properties. The acquisition of SDD represents a vertical expansion by BroadSoft, as the hospitality industry aggressively seeks cloud-provided communications services to replace aging PBXs and align with corporate IT cloud migration strategies. Bowen Advisors provided buyside M&A advisory services to BroadSoft.

Bowen Advisors is also announcing the sale of Whaleback Managed Services to Thinking Phone Networks, a leader in the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) market. The acquisition demonstrates another move by Thinking Phone Networks to support its market growth by adding Whaleback’s high-quality enterprise communication solutions and loyal customer base across healthcare, financial services, real estate, specialty retail, and non-profit verticals. “Bowen Advisors’ knowledge of the market, breadth of contacts, and transaction advice enabled Whaleback to select the optimal partner,” said Nina Saberi, chair of Whaleback and Managing Partner of Castile Ventures. Bowen Advisors provided sellside M&A advisory services to Whaleback.

“These transactions, along with our sale of Telepo to Aastra (Mitel) earlier this year, represent our continued commitment to the next-generation communications software and UCaaS markets,” said Paul Bowen, President of Bowen Advisors. “Adoption of cloud-based service delivery for telephony and UC applications has been explosive, and we plan to continue to leverage our long-term relationships across these industries to align like-minded companies and partners.”
